The Sundown was born from our desire for an ultralight backpack that could do it all. We wanted a pack that would excel on long trails, comfortably carry loads for a range of trip lengths, and transform into a daypack for everyday use. The Sundown is the result. Weighing in at roughly 1.6 pounds, the Sundown is light, sleek, and versatile. Featuring a removable hipbelt and aluminum frame, as well as volume reduction capabilities, this pack can morph to fit any occasion. For quick access storage, hip belt and shoulder strap pockets are available separately.
All Northern Ultralight gear is designed and crafted in Nelson, British Columbia.

X-pac fabrics are waterproof up to 200 psi, however due to small holes at seam locations, we recommend using a pack liner or cover to ensure your gear stays dry in the event of heavy rain. A trash compactor bag is included with purchase of the Sundown, for use as a pack liner.
The maximum load we recommend is between 30-35 pounds. This rating based on comfort, and can vary some depending on body build.
Pack sizing is based on torso length and not height. If you are in between sizes, we recommend sizing up. Here is a video demonstrating how to measure your torso length.
Hipbelt sizes are based on waist measurements. Measure your waist where it is most narrow, above your hips, or wherever you would like your hipbelt to sit. We recommend erring on the larger size when choosing a belt, so more padding will wrap around your waist. Make sure your waist measurement is no smaller than the minimum circumference of the size you choose though. If you think you may be losing weight (common when thru-hiking), then make sure you factor this into your decision, and consider erring on the smaller side.
